Description:
This course is based on a simple premise: to teach better, we must first think better.
Metacognition—thinking about one’s own thinking—is the skill that distinguishes a teacher who simply applies techniques from one who understands why they work and when they stop working.
Throughout the course, participants explore the historical and scientific foundations of metacognition, examine the theoretical models that support it, and develop logical and critical thinking skills that they can then apply in the classroom or in their professional practice.
The course culminates with the use of the Socratic method as a teaching approach: learning to guide others’ thinking through questions rather than answers.
The approach is practical. Each concept is grounded in evidence and translated into concrete practices that participants can apply immediately.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to apply metacognitive principles to the design, implementation, and evaluation of teaching and learning experiences, grounding their decisions in scientific evidence and explicit logical and critical reasoning.
